Last night I sampled the local beer. For the next 3 days I compared various chowders and fish sandwiches, and all were spectacular. I actually got up and used the washing machine and dryer at the Hostel until the owner told me I had to use the pay washing machines. They were in the same room. Why would I stick my clothes in a crappy machine when they had these nice free ones? He found it hard to argue, made a sign to prevent future mistakes, but let me finish my free load…score.
I headed back across the bridge into Washington to visit Cape Disappointment.
It was raining so I made a few small hikes
I backtracked back across the bridge and drove on to Seaside Oregon. A pretty touristy place where most people from Portland spend the summer weekends. It was quiet on this rainy day. Just me and some really really drunk people at brewery. This guy next to me was convinced I served in the Marines and would not stop asking me about my tours in Vietnam. I could not believe that the establishment was still serving him at 12 in the afternoon. He became increasingly annoying and I left.
I was actually killin time because I was at Ecola State park, just south of town, but the rain and winds were so bad I thought I would try and wait it out. Here is what it looked like on my first pass
When I came back around it was clear and beautiful
I continued south to Tillamook and Lookout State Park. Grabbing shots as I meandered through Lincoln City and Newport
There was a Seal Cave at Heceta Head , but it was closed
I was able to get this amazing shot though nonetheless
I stopped of in Florence in the Southern portion of Oregon for dinner
All the trees and poles were covered with these yarn warmers.
I ate dinner at the Waterfront Depot
I had the following and it was worth the upgrade from CLIF bars:
Arruz Com Marisco Portuguese: Assorted fishe and shellfish in a tomato-clam-dill broth over rice with Caesar Salad
I was able to track down another casino near town and crash for the night.
Until Tomorrow
Darren
